It´s ironic that whilst every agency knows how vital it is to seek out and nurture new talent, the opportunities available to young writers and designers hoping to carve out a career in our industry are few and far between. So, to help rectify the situation, we have teamed up with Epsom College to offer a number of students some valuable work experience during the summer.

Epsom College is part of the University of the Creative Arts (UCA), one of Europe’s leading arts and design institutions with a proud tradition of creative arts education that goes back 150 years. With campuses at Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester, the university is home to more than 7,000 students from over 70 countries around the world. They flock to Surrey and Kent to study art, design, architecture, media and communications.

In partnership with Sallyanne Theodosiou, Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design, we developed a presentation that would not only help the students become aware of the challenges that lay before them, but also give them tips on how to ensure they’d be at the top of the list come recruitment time.

We then set the students a brief entitled ‘How to get yourself noticed’ and asked them to present their ideas back to us the following week. Such was the quality of the work presented, it proved almost impossible to decide who to choose. However, the following four students were ultimately successful.

  • Shangomola Edunjobi
  • Matthew Sutch
  • Jack Hollands
  • Robbi Gray

We look forward to working with them over the summer.

“The work was outstanding and totally blew us away. The creativity, the effort and the detail that the students went to was very inspiring. I hope this is just the start of our relationship with Epsom and we look forward to working with Sally and the students in the future.”
