The year's flying by...
March is nearly over. The mornings are getting lighter and the days are growing longer. Today may officially be the first day of Spring but we’ve been far from dormant over the winter months! So welcome to another packed edition of dnxtra, keeping you up to date with first quarter goings-on at the Barn.
Is bad data causing problems? Meet Professor Bob.
You don't need to be a specialist to know that bad data's a problem - you just need one to sort it out. So, allow us to introduce Professor Bob! We've created him for our client Business Objects to take the mystery out of the Data Quality Cycle and show businesses of all sizes how to combine, refine and manage their data to produce a single version of the truth.
Our recent eDMs, inviting prospects and customers to a seminar on Data Integration not only achieved full registration but the event was over-subscribed!

Going, going, gone in the Millets Sale!
As a complete contrast to data quality, let's talk about the Millets sale.
A little while ago, Millets needed to clear some of their Autumn/Winter stock to make way for their new season's range. We produced a series of half page ads, which ran in the national press in February, and sent an eDM to 67,000 names - and what a result! On the first day the ads ran, store transactions were the highest ever recorded. And over the first weekend, trade in stores was up by 100%. Now that's what we call a clearance!

Big client, big savings, small footprint
We've been doing some rather exciting digital marketing for one of our clients, WebEx, who are changing the way companies work for the better with their web-based collaboration tool. Put simply, this technology allows people to work together live online, wherever they may be. Using only an internet browser and a phone, they can share applications and present or edit documents, reducing reliance on face-to-face meetings and cutting the environmental impact of avoidable business travel.
That's not just marketing hype: we were so convinced, we bought the product. We're saving money on business travel and we're offering our clients better service - we can hold a productive, collaborative meeting with them at any time. And no nasty carbon emissions! We're planning to hold online meetings using WebEx with some of our other clients in the near future. If we invite you to one, don't be surprised!

Cue Liam
You've seen his flair for the visual arts - now check out his other talents! When he's not glued to his Mac, our Senior Designer, Liam McCormick, plays bass in AUTOCUE, a six-piece indie/rock/alternative band. AUTOCUE will be back in the studio from 9th April, recording new material. What's their sound? Liam remains cryptic, so judge for yourself at MySpace Music!
Fast, but not furious
As Head of Digital at dnx, Stuart Witts understands the power of pixels as part of an integrated marketing toolkit. "Digital marketing is fast," explains Stuart. "It has the power to spread a message rapidly to a wide audience without killing any trees!". Stuart highlights a recent example with Millets where an urgent eDM was briefed in on a Monday and broadcast on the Tuesday. "Although we can't turn every job around that quickly!", he stresses.
Of course, here at The Barn, Stuart and the rest of the digital team (Adam Wright and Mike Ballan) are as well-known for their burgeoning toy collection as for their web wizardry. Boys will be boys!
Old banger or classic icon? We can't decide but at least his car's a beauty!
