Having been given a £1 million pound budget and instructed to develop an integrated 4 week multimedia campaign for the new Europa Health Drink from China, we left the Year 7’s at Carshalton High School for Girls to come up with something amazing to knock the socks off the Managing Director of the company, Mr Moon.
Of course as in the real world they were given a brief outlining their target market (young people aged 18-24 years), the product (a carbonated drink made of fruit and vegetable juice and packed with vitamins and minerals) and a deadline of one month.
With only 4 lessons to develop their campaigns, we didn’t really give the girls much time to organise their teams into those who would handle the finances, account management, creative, media planning, copy and design.
Posing as Mr Moon and Ms Orchid – the company’s Marketing Directors – we sent our own Andrew Wynn and Geminie Patel to judge the work and pick a winner.
Work was judged on four criteria namely organisation of the team, creativity of the work, answering the brief and integration of the idea across the entire campaign. Hard work for Mr Moon and Ms Orchid, but eventually a winner was announced and it was none other than a team called ‘Instinct Corporation’.
According to Mr Moon and Ms Orchid, ‘Instinct Corporation’ really seemed to have a grasp on the whole process and the integration of the big idea; their creative was consistent throughout the campaign. What’s more, they had spent their budget wisely and logically.
